While the door may be open to more cars based on specific movie franchises in future, however, there’s one licence that will seemingly never make the leap to Speed Champions.
“We’ll always do Batmobiles in Batman, and we don’t want to take those away from the Super Heroes team,” Chris added. “Nobody knows the superheroes and the Batmobile better than that team, and we’d never be able to do it as good. So those guys can keep doing Batmobiles and we’ll keep doing Speed Champions cars, and then hopefully you can display them next to each other.”
Given 76188 Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile is already eight studs wide – matching the scale of Speed Champions cars since 2020 – there may not be much benefit in reimagining that particular set with a Speed Champions label. Likewise 2019’s promotional 40433 1989 Batmobile, which (while very hard to come by) is also eight studs wide.
