The Brick Search app is able to scan information from the blind boxes used in LEGO Minifigures Series 25 packaging to reveal which minifigure is inside.
Small QR-like codes – data matrix codes – were introduced on the base of the boxes for the Series 25 minifigures, and the Brick Search app has an in-built scanner that can read them. Each data matrix code holds a sequence of numbers and each sequence corresponds to a specific minifigure.
The Brick Search app reads the sequence of numbers and finds the corresponding minifigure in the app’s database of LEGO sets. Some Series 25 boxes have a smaller data matrix code which cannot be be read, but the larger data matrix codes can be, regardless of where in the world the box was produced or found on the shelves.
