First look at LEGO Star Wars SMART Play Mos Eisley set

First look at LEGO Star Wars SMART Play Mos Eisley set

Another upcoming LEGO Star Wars SMART Play model has been partially revealed while showcasing the new technology.

The LEGO Group is currently showcasing the new SMART Play platform to media, mostly using the trio of 'all-in-one' sets revealed yesterday, but also one that is brand-new. Tiago Catarino is currently in attendance at a SMART Play event, showcasing a new set and other interesting features of these models.

Parts of the LEGO Star Wars SMART Play Mos Eisley set

It's just Darth Vader's TIE Advanced, an X-Wing and the Death Star's throne room that will utilise the SMART Play technology in the future, as a Mos Eisley model is also on the way. A new Dewback build and part of the cantina featuring two Bith musician minifigures is being used to showcase the technology, but this is not the full model.

Two SMART Play tags can be spotted, coloured red, on the back of the Dewback and in the middle of the stage. We can only hope that the latter tag triggers the classic cantina music. A release date or any other details for this new Mos Eisley set have yet to be confirmed, but it will follow 2020's Ultimate Collector Series version.

New LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 figure

You might not have noticed, but the R2-D2 figure in 75423 Luke’s Red Five X-wing has a new body element to incorporate the SMART Play system. It features a flat back with studs to attach a tile or SMART Play tag. It also only connects the head of the astromech with a single stud, allowing the droid's head to accurately spin around.

LEGO Star Wars SMART Play sets packaging

Also showcased at the event is the packaging for the three fully-revealed LEGO Star Wars SMART Play sets, boasting a new design that highlights the electronic elements to sufficiently differentiate them from standard LEGO Star Wars sets. These boxes are especially useful to see exactly what SMART elements and minifigures are in each set.
