It's a good thing the LEGO F1 Academy car can be rebuilt

The China races for the LEGO Group's F1 Academy car are complete, and it's a good thing the LEGO vehicle can be rebuilt in the set and in real life.

The 2026 season of Formula 1 is now underway, including that of F1 Academy. The LEGO Group's Formula 1 car has also debuted, recreated in 77258 F1 ACADEMY LEGO Race Car. The second batch of races of the season in China saw the vehicle sustain some damage, but it's nothing that can't be fixed.

A highlight of the contact has been shared on social media, but you can watch the full clip by heading to around 19 minutes in the replay further below.

The crash between the LEGO and Williams cars saw one of the latter's wheel become misaligned, while the spoiler of the former was completely detached from the vehicle. The spoiler just so happened to detach in almost the same way in which the LEGO spoiler can be removed from 77258 F1 ACADEMY LEGO Race Car.

Neither driver has been reported injured in the crash at the time of writing, though the cars will need to be repaired before the next race. At least you now have an excuse to modify 77258 F1 ACADEMY LEGO Race Car accordingly.

77258 F1 ACADEMY LEGO Race Car is available now for £22.99 / $27.99 / €27.99 alongside a wide range of other Formula 1 sets across Speed Champions, Icons and more.
