How to build a better LEGO Star Wars 327th Clone Troopers AT-RT Walker

Here’s how to build a more accurate AT-RT for your growing army of LEGO Star Wars 327th Clone Troopers than the one in this summer's battle pack.

The latest LEGO Star Wars battle pack, 75431 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers Battle Pack, is a little costlier but at least reintroduces 327th Clone Troopers to the collection. Included within the box are four 327th Clone Troopers, three Super Battle Droids, a Dwarf Spider Droid and an AT-RT.

We’ve shown you how to build a smaller, more accurately-sized and detailed AT-RT before, but this latest version inspired us to revisit our own design and find improvements. We do like the official AT-RT that you get in 75431 – it’s smaller than some of the more recent versions of the little walker and does include a lot more details and nods to the source material than you may otherwise realise.

That being said, it’s designed to be play-friendly for younger LEGO fans, and so it does come in a lot bigger and chunkier than older LEGO Star Wars collectors would hope – so have a look a look at how our updated custom AT-RT design compares.

Whilst we’ve built a little display stand to go with this custom AT-RT, the model is free-standing and built out of easy-to-find pieces, including the new rounded plate with clip on bottom which allows the handlebars of the walker to be attached just right.

We’ve changed the design of the head of the AT-RT to better reflect the shaping and size of the armour, so if you are looking to build this yourself please take care to note the angles that particular pieces are placed at, because they all come together in a specific way.

Likewise, the legs’ resistance and particular poses are heavily reliant on the ball joints, so pay attention to the range of movement these offer so as to stand your AT-RT just right.

This custom LEGO AT-RT MOC offers a more detailed, better-scaled and equally poseable version of a popular vehicle to bolster a Clone army. It is also easily recoloured for 501st troopers, Kashyyyk Troopers, or any other factions of the Clone Army you can think of.

We also know an AT-RT is coming in 2026’s The Mandalorian and Grogu, and so couldn’t resist a quick mock-up of that duo riding one of these.

What do you think? Will you be building your own version of this custom AT-RT? Send us photos or post them in the comments.
