For that spend you receive(d) a 361-piece LEGO set offering up a slice of a living space packed with little nods and details to the work of pioneer author Jane Austen. She wrote six major novels in her short lifetime including the likes of Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park and Emma (these four published anonymously within five years of each other) and, whilst she died over 200 years ago, her works have rarely been out of print, and have since seen countless stage, television and film adaptations.

40766 Tribute to Jane Austen’s Books looks to capture a living room scene with the author surrounded by various items including a bookshelf, piano, fireplace, window and select artworks representing scenes from, presumably, Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, and Emma, and all built within the frame of an open book.

While it's unusual that there's no direct representation of her work in book form, per se, the build overall is clever (particularly for the corner section of the wall – we’ve not seen this technique before and it’s really good), and all round it is neatly put together and should sit nicely on a desk or in amongst the books on a shelf, and offers fair value for the qualifying spend required here.

40766 Tribute to Jane Austen’s Books is available at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores from June 19 to 27, while stocks last, awarded with all LEGO purchases of £135 / $150 / €150 or more.

This set was provided by the LEGO Group for review purposes.
