LEGO 40783 Coral Reef Diorama gift-with-purchase review

LEGO 40783 Coral Reef Diorama continues the nature-themed series of little vignette builds to make for a colourful and quirky gift-with-purchase.

Hot on the heels of February’s 40782 Tropical Rainforest Diorama, LEGO 40783 Coral Reef Diorama is available April 22-28 to LEGO Insiders making purchases of £135 / $150 / €150 at LEGO.com or in LEGO stores, while stocks last and excluding pre-orders.

And much like 40782, 40783 looks to capture a mini ecosystem from nature in a nondescript scale, this time based on a coral reef. The end result is as busy and packed as with the Tropical Rainforest Diorama, with the different subject matter and colourscheme arguably making the Coral Reef Diorama that much more appealing.

Indeed, for the relative alien-like appearance of a coral reef, this little vignette is the more interesting of the two in the series so far to put together, and also perhaps more flexible to anyone wanting to swap out a few parts and indeed turn it into a scene from another planet. Likewise, building this GWP may get those of you familiar with any of the excellent Botanicals sets thinking to that theme one day going underwater particularly if it’s anything like this in colour and novelty, then combined with the level of expertise that that theme delivers on at the moment.

This series of gift-with-purchase dioramas is unique and comes packed with a nice selection of themed and colourful parts, whilst the more that come out the increase in appeal for what has come before (as is often the way), so whether intentionally or not, if you happen to spend enough money to end up with 40783 Coral Reef Diorama there’s more than one way to appreciate the freebie.

The fact this GWP promotion excludes pre-orders, though, is a shame, as there’s a whole lot of wonderful sets currently on pre-order that would make getting to the qualifying spend threshold very easy.
