LEGO Marvel has finally entered the Spider-Verse in an essential model that knows you're likely to pick it up no matter what.

LEGO Marvel 76311 Miles Morales vs. The Spot is highly likely to be a popular set in 2025 for its minifigures alone, at long last bringing the animated Marvel movies into the portfolio ahead of the third film. After years of waiting, the team behind 76311 Miles Morales vs. The Spot know that the set is going to be in high demand for its must-have minifigures, but have still poured a good amount of thought into everything else.

With so many wonderfully animated moments across both films to cover, the LEGO Marvel designers have opted for the bodega where Miles and The Spot first meet, kicking off a chain of chaotic events that shape the future of the multiverse. Fingers crossed this somewhat basic set is the start of something more promising in the future too...

Into the bodega-verse

Despite the many fascinating and eye-catching scenes in the first and second Spider-Verse films, the LEGO Group has honed in on the initial appearance of The Spot in the sequel in a classic New York bodega alongside Officer Jefferson's police car. This is far from the most exciting scene in the film to cover and the first Spider-Verse set's less thrilling concept is offset only by some bright colours and great minifigures.

There's not much room to stand inside the bodega, but there's plenty of room to swing thanks to a tall ceiling with space for two of The Spot's portals, which allows for some fun poses using the included web-based accessories. It serves as the ideal backdrop for a scene inspired by the opening moments of Across the Spider-Verse but is light on play features.

The accompanying police car is an enjoyable build but is much less notable than the bodega itself. Its size and scale may be useful as an addition to a modular buildings display though, resembling more realistic police cars than that of LEGO City. Overall, the models in 76311 Miles Morales vs. The Spot aren't terribly exciting – but be honest, you're only getting this set for one thing...

Animated excellence

The four exclusive minifigures in 76311 Miles Morales vs. The Spot make the whole model worthwhile, finally offering characters based on the innovative animated movies after years of waiting (and some tongue-in-cheek references in the meantime). These Spider-Verse minifigures do a good job of translating the distinct animated style as well as minifigures can, though almost all of them lack printing on the legs.

Thankfully, such a level of detail wasn't as crucial for Miles, Gwen and Officer Jefferson as it was for The Spot – arguably the most enticing minifigure in the set. The misplaced menace has unique proportions with a stocky body and thin legs and this has been translated to a minifigure with detailing to shape the curves of his gut. The random black splotches on the white body are a simple but effective decoration for the designers and as such, the important printing on the legs completes a fantastic Marvel minifigure.

While Miles and The Spot needed to be in this set, the inclusion of Officer Jefferson and Gwen is appreciated too after years of waiting for a LEGO Spider-Verse entry. The design team are evidently fans of the films too, thanks to an alternate face print for Miles that is sure to find plenty of use on social media. This LEGO Marvel model needed to nail its minifigures and thankfully, at least three of the four are essential picks for your collection.

Pricey, but promising

At £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99 for 375 pieces and four minifigures, 76311 Miles Morales vs. The Spot is anything but inexpensive and the volume of models isn't generous compared to similarly-priced sets. The LEGO Group seemingly knows the demand for a Spider-Verse model and this set has been priced accordingly.

That price may be slightly easier to swallow with one eye on what comes next. The sides and top of the bodega build include open studs and Technic pin connection points, but with no adjoining builds or roof included in this box. Such features would usually be present in a collection of miniature modular buildings, such as 31141 Main Street, suggesting that 76311 Miles Morales vs. The Spot may be the start of a collection of smaller superhero modular buildings.

That's far from confirmed, but the inclusion of connection points doesn't make sense otherwise and this additional context might help you understand and appreciate the £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99 price tag. Without them, it's very much one to grab on sale.

Even without whatever the LEGO Marvel team may or may not have planned for the future, 76311 Miles Morales vs. The Spot is a strong package of incredibly desirable minifigures and basic but effective models, finally bringing some of the best Marvel movies to the theme after years of waiting.

Our honest opinion: The long-awaited LEGO Spider-Verse set has must-have minifigures, a basic but effective mix of builds and signs of more mini modular buildings to come. Combine those and it's one to prioritise, though not necessarily at full price.
