LEGO excludes its latest hot-ticket item from new GWP

The LEGO Group has once again excluded pre-orders of its latest hot-ticket item from the current gift-with-purchase, so you may need to rethink your shopping plans…

40907 Restaurants of the World: Mexico is currently available with nearly all orders above £160 / $180 / €180, until April 19 or while stocks last. We say ‘nearly’ because while everything in stock right now counts towards that threshold, and so do most of the sets available to pre-order, the LEGO Group has specifically excluded 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler from this promo.

Pre-ordering that set would have taken you straight over the required spend for the second Restaurants of the World GWP, so it’s a real shame that it won’t qualify for the 326-piece taqueria. But it’s not the first time the LEGO Group has pulled this stunt: back in August last year, for example, 21359 Italian Riviera wasn’t eligible for 40760 Adventure Peely & Cuddle Team Leader.

The difference there was that the LEGO Ideas model had its own set-specific gift-with-purchase (a rule that also saw 75409 Jango Fett’s Starship excluded from the same promo, as 40765 Kamino Training Facility had returned from the May the 4th event earlier in the year). As far as we know, 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler doesn’t have an exclusive gift-with-purchase – and likely won’t given it’s available to pre-order at all.

Leaving that one off the list for 40907 Restaurants of the World: Mexico therefore feels a bit miserly. Presumably the LEGO Group believes Jurassic and Jeep fans are going to snap it up anyway and is trying to encourage buying other sets at the same time for this GWP, which makes sense from a business perspective but isn’t what you’d call consumer-friendly.

If you have your sights set on Mexico regardless, pretty much everything else available now (or up for pre-order) will contribute towards the spend total, including the newly-revealed summer LEGO One Piece wave and the rest of the June and August Jurassic World sets. There are two other free polybags up for grabs at the moment too:

Like 40907 Restaurants of the World: Mexico, those are on offer through April 19 or while stocks last.
