Taylor Swift’s Lover house reaches 10K LEGO Ideas supporters… again

Another Taylor Swift project has reached 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas, and it might not be the only one for this review period.

Taylor Swift “Lover House” by 19-year-old LEGO Ideas user AndrewC456 is the latest project to join the second 2023 LEGO Ideas review. Another project based on the same house from Taylor Swift’s 2019 music video for her song Lover was a part of the first 2023 review as well. This is actually the third project depicting the video to reach the 10K supporters milestone.

AndrewC456’s version of the house is built with 1,653 pieces and features several colour-coded rooms, each meant to represent an era of Taylor Swift’s music. A minifigure of Swift is also included. The design is much smaller and less detailed than Lucy33’s version from the last review, but is a bit bigger than the first-ever 10K Lover house submission by FrillyBadger084.

Interestingly, all of these submissions have a very similar-looking design. It’s possible that the subsequent designs were all inspired by FrillyBadger084’s version, but it’s equally possible that the dollhouse style shot of the house is the most iconic part of the video and therefore the most natural LEGO model.

Even more interestingly, though, is that while AndrewC456’s Lover house was the third version of the model to make it to 10K supporters, it’s also the first… in this review period. There are three other Lover house projects approaching the 10K supporters mark on LEGO Ideas right now, one of which is (at the time of this article’s writing) only 196 votes away. That means there could be up to four separate projects depicting the same music video in one Ideas review.

The other projects are Taylor Swift’s Lover House by donnydings, Taylor Swift Lover House by Weather24370, and Taylor Swift: Lover House by RC1317. Every one of these projects uses the same open dollhouse design. All of the projects have at least 6,500 supporters, and their time on the site isn’t up for over a year. It’s highly likely that all of them will reach 10,000 supporters – some of them will even surely be in the same review period.

What makes the Lover music video so ripe for LEGO Ideas submissions? Are there no other Taylor Swift videos with recognizable settings? Are the Swifties just submitting the same design over and over to cope with the original not being selected? It’s hard to tell what exactly is causing this phenomenon, but it’s safe to say the LEGO Group is going to have a hard time ignoring the overwhelming demand for LEGO Taylor Swift.
