Find out why LEGO Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler has been ‘ducked’

A mysterious yellow LEGO duck included with 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler is a subtle nod to a friendly tradition amongst owners of the iconic vehicles.

The LEGO Jurassic World theme will soon be adding 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler to its line-up, with the brick-built car due to be released next month. In addition to numerous Easter eggs contained within the set, a small yellow duck piece has also been included as a sneaky reference to a recent trend carried out by fans of the vehicle.

Jeep 'ducking' is a friendly viral tradition that was started by Canadian resident Allison Parliament back in 2020 as a way of spreading positivity during the pandemic and has since expanded worldwide. Owners of the cars leave small rubbers ducks on other Jeeps that they appreciate, often accompanied by a note that says, ‘You’ve been ducked!’

That fun community act has now spilled over into 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler, with Senior Model Designer Henrik Rubin Saaby revealing in a recent interview with Tiago Catarino exactly why a yellow duck piece has made its way into the LEGO Jurassic World set.

“The duck is for the Jeep fans,” Henrik explained. “People that own a Jeep, they duck each other. When you’re driving around and you see another Jeep that you like, you think it’s nice or beautiful, you place a rubber duck on it.

“Then it’s been 'ducked' and that’s kind of a symbol that you think it’s cool. Jeep loved the idea that we have a rubber duck in this set, even though it’s not in [Jurassic Park].”

The yellow duck piece is just one of many Easter eggs hidden within 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler, with others including a Velociraptor claw, a T. rex reflection in a wing mirror and a Jurassic Park lanyard.

77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler will be launching on May 7, 2026 priced at £179.99 in the UK, $199.99 in the US and €199.99 in Europe. Pre-orders for the LEGO Jurassic World model are now live and you can check out our full review of the set right here.
