LEGO Jurassic World's new dinos are switching places in 2026

Two of LEGO Jurassic World's newest dinosaurs are switching places in 2026, giving fans the option for a brick-built or moulded figure.

It's not just the Mosasaurus that is undergoing a serious transformation in the next wave of LEGO Jurassic World sets. It's one of two dinosaur figures to be revisited in 2026, switching from brick-built to moulded, or, for the first time, vice versa.

The Mosasaurus and Spinosaurus are essentially swapping places later this year. 2025's figures of both dinosaurs are depicted as moulded in 76976 Spinosaurus & Quetzalcoatlus Air Mission, and buildable in 76974 Brick-Built Mosasaurus Boat Mission, respectively.

Come the August 2026 wave of LEGO Jurassic World, the Spinosaurus will be brick-built in 77982 Spinosaurus Dinosaur Escape, and the Mosasaurus will be moulded at long last in 77983 Mosasaurus Dinosaur Boat Attack. Whether planned or not by the LEGO Jurassic World team, it's nothing but good news for the LEGO Jurassic World fans out there. You now have the option to choose whether you want these LEGO dinosaurs to be moulded or brick-built.

Whether one option is better than the other is up for debate, but we can now see more clearly than ever how well the two compare. The prices between the 2025 and 2026 sets can also be compared to see how the moulded dinosaurs impact the overall price.

76976 Spinosaurus & Quetzalcoatlus Air Mission has 984 pieces for £139.99 / $159.99 / €149.99, while 77982 Spinosaurus Dinosaur Escape has 820 pieces for £59.99 / $74.99 / €69.99. 76974 Brick-Built Mosasaurus Boat Mission has 858 pieces for £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99, whereas 77983 Mosasaurus Dinosaur Boat Attack features 703 elements for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99.

The new wave of LEGO Jurassic World sets will be released on August 1, while two new models will be launching earlier in May and June.
