LEGO One Piece Day big build used for major event cameo

The LEGO Group's presence at One Piece Day goes beyond big builds, as one model was used for a major cameo at the event.

As well as a trailer for the second season of the live-action adaptation, One Piece Day saw the LEGO Group taking part to celebrate all things One Piece and the new theme.

The LEGO booth at Tokyo Big Sight during the event recreated the deck of 75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship with all five sets on display, as well as giant builds of Shanks' minifigure and a Den Den Mushi, also known as a transponder snail. The communication devices are crucial to One Piece's story, and as it turns out, this LEGO Den Den Mushi was essential for the event's biggest surprise.

The huge LEGO model was used to get in contact with the live-action One Piece adaptation's star, Iñaki Godoy, who made a surprise appearance at the event.
