The LEGO Pokémon trading card challenge on LEGO Ideas has only been open for a week, but it's already got some seriously strong contenders.
LEGO Pokémon started a trading card contest on LEGO Ideas one week ago, inviting LEGO and Pokémon enthusiasts to design a trading card model that will become a real set. The brief was to depict a full-art Pokémon card in whatever way you see fit, but with some specific guidelines and Pokémon to keep in mind.
There are currently seven entries in this challenge, with a month left to submit models to the contest. The competition is already looking fierce, though. The early submissions demonstrate the different ways of building something for this challenge, from traditional mosaic techniques to including motion.
Fan designer hachiroku24 has moved from making LEGO insects to a moving Gyarados model, depicting the underwater world and the creature's head sticking out above the splashing water. BricktasticStudio has also selected a water-type Pokémon from the list, even using a NINJAGO element to depict Greninja's water shuriken move.
This is only after one week of the submission period, too. The Yu-Gi-Oh challenge's window ended with 264 entries, and it will be interesting to see whether LEGO Pokémon can exceed that total.
Head here to submit your model before the window closes on May 6. You can find out more about the challenge on the contest page and on our original report. The first three retail LEGO Pokémon sets are all available now, starting at £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 for
