LEGO Shopping Street’s animal figures get their moment in the spotlight

In addition to seven minifigures, the upcoming LEGO Icons 11371 Shopping Street comes with a specific selection of animal figures too.

Fans of LEGO modular buildings will be able to slot yet another set into their continuously-expanding collections very soon, when 11371 Shopping Street launches on January 1, 2026. As well as seven minifigures, the LEGO Icons model is bolstered with a handful of animal figures, all of which have a part to play in the build's storytelling possibilities.

The design team responsible for 11371 Shopping Street have been discussing the inclusion of those little critters in a recent video and have explained why adding such animal figures to the set was an essential decision.

“We love animals,” said 11371 Shopping Street’s designer, Hoang Huy Dang. “We want to put in those sorts of connections with the minifigures in the modular street.”

An example of such a connection is a leaking pipe that’s hidden under a floor grate that can be found between the two-storey music shop and the adjoining furniture store. Arriving to fix the problem is 11371 Shopping Street’s plumber minifigure, who discovers that a certain furry rodent may be to blame for the water-based issue.

“We have the story of the rat that stole the pipe,” Hoang explained, “and he actually lives inside the building in a very hidden room. But little do they know, the pipe has been stolen by this guy over here. So he’s causing trouble all over town.”

In addition to the rat, 11371 Shopping Street also boasts a pair of pigeon figures, animals that once again connect to the LEGO Icons set’s wider storytelling and one specific minifigure character.

“Then, of course, we have the pigeon storyline that comes into play,” said Hoang. “The carpenter lady uses the pigeons to deliver her orders. She receives those through the mail. She will receive a lot of orders from them. I think the pigeon’s story is very interesting, because we also introduced a new colour for the pigeons and it comes in white and black for the first time for this model.”

LEGO Insiders members will be able to get their hands on 11371 Shopping Street and its animal denizens when the set launches on January 1, 2026. The LEGO Icons model will be accompanied by 40913 Vintage Parade Car, a free GWP with all purchases of £180 / $200 / €200 and over between January 1 and 11 (while stocks last). The set will then receive a wider release from January 4, priced at £229.99 in the UK, $249.99 in the US and €249.99 in Europe.
