LEGO Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots’ Easter eggs are an obvious choice

The inclusion of specific multiple Easter eggs within LEGO 72423 Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots will make complete sense to fans of the fantasy franchise.

Thanks to today’s official reveal of two upcoming LEGO Shrek sets, we now have another new theme to look forward to in 2026, this time based on the smash hit DreamWorks Animation series. What's more, taking a closer look at one of those offerings, 72423 Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots, not only reveals just how detailed the model is, but also a number of Easter eggs contained with the build that will be familiar to fans of the fantasy films.

Those include some nods to the Shrek movies on the exterior of the LEGO set, such as a frog figure that could be a representation of the pre-transformed form of King Harold from Shrek 2, while the blue flower with red thorns directly references a scene in the original film and Donkey being colour blind.

Moving around 72423 Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots we see a ‘Beware Ogre!’ sign, which appears to feature printed pieces, and was placed outside Shrek’s swamp domicile, plus a selection brick-built sunflowers, with the plants being seen throughout the first DreamWorks movie.

However, the main Easter eggs to be found within 72423 Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots are contained inside the temperamental ogre’s gut, with a front section of the character’s stomach being removable, allowing fans to see just what the LEGO version of Shrek has been consuming.

Those items include a tiny onion, to match the larger version the buildable figure can hold in his poseable hands, as well as printed 1x1 cookie and eye tiles, with the latter potentially referencing the ogre drinking eyeball martinis.

You’ll be able to discover every Easter egg contained within 72423 Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots when the LEGO Shrek set launches on June 1, 2026, alongside 40923 Shrek, Donkey & Gingy Figures, both of which can already be pre-ordered in advance.
