Christmas is approaching and to celebrate the festive season, Brick Fanatics is opening up the
LEGO advent calendars each day before sharing our thoughts on what is found behind the doors. Feel free to join us and share your own comments when opening up those advent calendar doors – whether you opted for Star Wars, City or Friends. You can do so on
Facebook,
Twitter or underneath this very feature.
75184 Star Wars: Krennic's Shuttle
It was not going to be possible for the smooth slopes of Director Krennic's Shuttle to be recreated at this scale, but even so this ship just feels off. Once again, parts come to the rescue a bit as cheese slopes and double cheese slopes in black are always welcome along with modified plates with bars. It is also the tallest of the micro Star Wars ships we have thus far seen in our journey toward Christmas. Not bad for the scale but definitely not pleasing to look at.
60155 City: Toy car
Toy cars at this scale are just not happening. The designer has tried admirably here but it just is not working. The problem is the clips that must be used to secure the wheels, with so few parts it just ends up looking like some sort of weird alien animal biting a minifigure dumbbell. Furthermore, the fact that the clips are offset in height means that the wheels are not at the same level which leads to one set not even touching the ground. Should have stuck with the flight motif and given us another oversized killer remote control aircraft.
41326 Friends: Cat and fish
The Friends calendar was already bordering on the verge of animal cruelty with our frozen bunny from earlier in the month, this kitty and fish combo seems to be continuing the trend. Is the
LEGO Group implying that a feline of this size should be able to consume a fish that is bigger than its whole body? How would that even work? The kitty is detailed, and more fish are always welcome, however the size difference here just seems odd.
