Christmas is approaching and to celebrate the festive season, Brick Fanatics is opening up the
LEGO advent calendars each day before sharing our thoughts on what is found behind the doors. Feel free to join us and share your own comments when opening up those advent calendar doors – whether you opted for Star Wars, City or Friends. You can do so on
Facebook,
Twitter or underneath this very feature.
75184 Star Wars: Imperial Air Traffic Controller
I am sure this guy has an official name, but in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story he stood out on the beach landing platform waving cones just like someone on an Earth bound tarmac, so he is an air traffic controller to me. There was a Death Star Battle Pack a few years ago that had a pair of figures somewhat close to this, but their helmets were were smooth instead of dimpled. A rare figure that has application across both MOCs and existing sets is always welcome.
60155 City: Ice Sculpture
Models such as this were harder to come by prior to
LEGO sets based on the Disney movie Frozen. These exact wing components have appeared in multiple sets, usually as part of a fountain. Despite being slightly more prevalent than before, they are still exquisite and have a myriad of uses. Indeed all of these parts, especially in their light blue transparent form, are well worth having.
41326 Friends: Gifts
Friends got a leg up on City last year by including presents with printed tops that could actually open. The usefulness of these more detailed gifts is somewhat undercut by the fact that the lid will not stay on as there is no clutch power. The
LEGO Group appears to have acknowledged this by only including one this year and making the other a more traditional version with no hollow space.
