LEGO ushers in summer with a new free LEGO event

Visitors to US and Canadian LEGO Stores can pick up a free summer-themed LEGO set this weekend for a limited time only.

On Sunday July 7 between midday and 2pm, visitors to select American and Canadian stores can walk out with a free Summer Sandcastle in the upcoming Make & Take event. As with all events like this, there's a maximum of one copy per person and they're given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

The build itself is a simple sandcastle, topped off with red flags and a bird element, likely intended to be a seagull. The sand base is also decorated with a bucket (presumably use to make the sandcastle) and a red crab, matching the colour of the flags.

When in the store, you'll get told how to make the build and then get to take home the build yourself. These Make & Take events are geared towards children and are an excellent free activity for young fans of LEGO.

The LEGO Summer Sandcastle cannot be purchased, so find a participating store near you using this link and head down between midday and 2pm to pick up a copy. Remember to get there early to avoid disappointment, as there's a limited number of models available in each store. If you're in the UK, you can still join in the fun with a Formula 1-themed Make & Take event this weekend too.
