Ranking every LEGO Star Wars AT-RT to date

Ranking every LEGO Star Wars AT-RT to date

The ninth LEGO Star Wars AT-RT model will soon stomp onto shelves, and it ranks quite highly in our subjective ranking of the builds.

One of the six new The Mandalorian and Grogu movie sets has been confirmed as 75444 AT-RT Attack. It's one of the surprisingly few models of an AT-RT in all of LEGO Star Wars. The All Terrain Reconnaissance Transport was used in the original trilogy of movies and animated series, making it inherently less likely to be picked for a set than other walkers from later down the timeline.

This consequently means that the small number of them is easier to rank, as we're doing while we wait for the release of 75444 AT-RT Attack on April 26. This list is entirely subjective and based on a mix of accuracy in terms of design and whether they are the correct size compared to a minifigure.

9 – 8098 Clone Turbo Tank

8098 main 1024x681

The 2010 Turbo Tank set included a small model of an AT-RT designed to fold up and fit in the larger vehicle. This introduced some limitations in terms of the detail and size, making this fairly unrecognisable as an AT-RT beyond the two legs. Thankfully, it's one of only a few smaller AT-RT models.

8 – 75089 Geonosis Troopers

75089 2 1024x768

Another smaller AT-RT build is in 75089 Geonosis Troopers from 2015, notably packing in the six-stud shooter common to this era of the theme, which in turn impacts the overall design of the walker. While the colour scheme is an interesting choice that makes it stand out, this AT-RT simply isn't as good as many of the others in the theme.

7 – 75151 Clone Turbo Tank

75151 1

The other Turbo Tank set to include an AT-RT is 75151 Clone Turbo Tank from 2016, and it's a notable improvement on the first. The additional flaps on the sides of the front and the detailing at the back go a long way in increasing the accuracy of this build, and it's approximately the perfect size compared to a minifigure.

6 – 7250 Clone Scout Walker

LEGO 7250

2005's 7250 Clone Scout Walker was the first on the scene and remains one of the most-detailed released so far. While it's undeniably huge compared to a minifigure, the part usage on show greatly assists in this walker's appearance. Some of these elements have now been retired, but the LEGO designers have found different and better ways to capture the shape of the AT-RT

5 – 75444 AT-RT Attack

LEGO Star Wars 75444 AT RT Attack 13 1200x693

The new 75444 AT-RT Attack sits in the middle of the list with a respectable design that is much more condensed compared to other AT-RT models, but it's still too big compared to a minifigure. The back of this vehicle, with the exhaust-like feature, catches your attention, and the variety of slopes as well as angled pieces go a long way in depicting the AT-RT's finer details. It will be released on April 26 for £39.99 / $44.99 / €44.99.

4 – 75280 501st Legion Clone Troopers

LEGO Star Wars 75280 501st Legion Clone Troopers 30

2020's 75280 501st Legion Clone Troopers may not have better legs than 75444 AT-RT Attack, but the expert shaping of the front of the walker's head area gives this AT-RT an advantage over the newest set. Admittedly, the numerous stickers are a big part of this set's overall accuracy, and later models would find a better balance between stickers and undecorated elements.

3 – 75261 Clone Scout Walker – 20th Anniversary Edition

75261

75261 Clone Scout Walker – 20th Anniversary Edition from 2019 is still too big compared to a minifigure, but it's closer than most other recent AT-RT models. This build strikes a near-perfect balance between detailing on the feet, legs and head as well as the back of the walker. It doesn't use too many stickers, as well.

2 – 75431 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers Battle Pack

LEGO Star Wars 75431 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers Battle Pack 9 1024x918

2025's 75431 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers Battle Pack is arguably one of the best LEGO AT-RTs ever designed, thanks in no small part to being one of the closest to the correct size relative to a minifigure. It combines this scale with a good level of detail from head to toe, only lacking in the blaster, where a stud shooter is used. This LEGO Star Wars set is available now for £34.99 / $44.99 / €39.99.

1 – 75002 AT-RT

75002 main 1024x826

75002 AT-RT tops our subjective ranking of LEGO AT-RTs. The set was released in 2013 and opts for accuracy over scale, which is thankfully to the set's benefit. The simple usage of the multi-slope elements at the front mix well with the sparse, but adequate, back of the head. The legs pack in enough detail to be accurate without distracting from any one part of the set. The blaster is the cherry on top, not featuring any play features and therefore focusing on being the right size and length.
