A record number of LEGO Ideas projects were in contention in the second 2025 review, which unfortunately also means a record number of projects have been rejected this time round.
No fewer than 146 potential LEGO Ideas sets were up for consideration in the second 2025 review, having reached 10,000 supporters on the crowdsourcing platform between May and September last year. The LEGO Ideas review board has just announced the results of that review, with only three of those fan-designed models making the cut – which means 143 have fallen at the final hurdle.
That’s more than double the previous record, which stands at 69 projects rejected in the first 2023 review. Given production capacity at the LEGO Group is not unlimited, there was never really any chance of that record standing following the results of the second 2025 review, but it’s still surprising to see only three new sets given the green light from such a bumper selection.
At the same time, this review announcement comes hot off the heels of a review period that itself saw a record number of sets entering production simultaneously, so the Ideas pipeline is starting to get pretty full. Among those are a few genuine surprises, including Brent Waller's Garfield, which feels very much in lockstep with the LEGO Group’s current fascination with buildable characters.
