If rumours of a potential LEGO Animal Crossing theme arriving in 2024 prove to be true, here are six minifigures we want to see included.
The first information regarding a mystery LEGO theme for 2024 started to surface this week, with listings of five sets appearing on a price comparison site. The initial details were then supplemented with rumours suggesting a range of sets based around the popular Animal Crossing video games may be in the works, continuing the LEGO Group’s partnership with Nintendo.
The social simulation series was launched in 2001, with Animal Crossing on the GameCube, and has since gone on to spawn four sequels on various platforms. The series is known for its open-ended gameplay, the passage of real time and the numerous anthropomorphic animal characters that populate the colourful world.
A second Nintendo-inspired theme following in the footsteps of LEGO Super Mario would seem to make a lot of sense and Animal Crossing certainly does have a massive following. With that in mind, here are six minifigures we’d like to see included in any potential LEGO Animal Crossing sets in 2024.
6. Cherry

The big dog sister that everyone likes, Cherry was first introduced into the series in New Leaf in 2012. With a distinct goth sense of fashion and a love for rock ‘n’ roll, this fan-favourite character is a perfect mix of weird and lovable.
5. Ankha

There are certainly plenty of snooty villagers in Animal Crossing, but Ankha may be at the top of that long list. A cat with an ancient Egyptian theme, she has a very high opinion of herself, but her unique fashion and design sense make her a winner.
4. Marshal

Also making his first appearance in New Leaf was Marshal, a smug squirrel character that most players can’t help but want to befriend. He has a stylish home (ripe for a LEGO set) that mixes cute elements with Marshal’s lively personality.
3. K.K. Slider

A travelling canine musician based on the game’s composer, Kazumi Totaka, K.K. Slider only appears on certain nights in the town to perform a gig. The character then gives players a free copy of his songs, which some fans have taken for the villager's support of music piracy!
2. Mr. Resetti

When players used to exit a game of Animal Crossing without saving their progress, this grouchy mole character would appear and give them a telling off. Following the introduction of an autosave function in New Horizons, Mr. Resetti got a new job as a Rescue Service operator.
1. Tom Nook

Ah, yes, Tom Nook. The bane of many an Animal Crossing player, this tanuki character is a shop owner and real estate broker who will gladly give players loans and upgrades, then often charges them high rates of interest when it comes time to paying the money back.
As usual with all such rumours, do treat any information regarding a possible LEGO Animal Crossing theme with speculation for now, until we hear anything official from the LEGO Group or Nintendo.
