Here’s what Kylian Mbappé thinks of his LEGO Editions minifigure

Kylian Mbappé will be getting his own LEGO Editions set next month, but what does the football superstar think of being immortalised as a minifigure?

Nine new LEGO Editions sets will be launching on May 1 (plus a Collector's combo pack), all based around this year’s FIFA World Cup tournament and famous players. That sporting line-up includes 43013 Kylian Mbappé – Football Highlights, a build that comes complete with the first-ever minifigure of the Real Madrid forward.

In a new interview with Esquire, Mbappé has revealed just what it means to him to have received his very own LEGO Editions set, his memories of building with LEGO as a kid and exactly what he thought of his finished minifigure counterpart.

“It’s honestly pretty crazy,” said Mbappé. “It’s not something you imagine when you start playing football. And seeing your journey recreated in a LEGO set, with details and little nods to your story, is both fun and very symbolic.

“LEGO is a brand that gives children the opportunity to create and learn through play. Together, I think we make a great team to inspire younger generations to believe in their dreams, to create, and to build their own path.”

Speaking of the younger generation, Mbappé also talked about what it was like to play with LEGO when he was a child and how he feels that experience connects to playing the beautiful game.

“It was mostly simple moments,” Mbappé explained. “Building, starting over, imagining… it’s actually a bit like football: you try, you learn, you start again. We’ve all spent hours playing it.”

When it came to the minifigure included in 43013 Kylian Mbappé – Football Highlights, the Real Madrid player had an instant reaction to seeing himself in brick form and which aspect of his LEGO character he looked at first.

“The face, right away! And the details too,” exclaimed Mbappé, “like the kit and the armband. Honestly, they did an amazing job. Then they explained the hidden details in the set, the references to my journey. The result is incredible, and I find it very authentic. It’s not just my name on a box.”

43013 Kylian Mbappé – Football Highlights will be released on May 1, 2026 priced at £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99 and is available to pre-order now, with the 490-piece set being joined by nine more LEGO Editions models on the same day.
