LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower could be good news for NINJAGO

The new LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower means that 76178 Daily Bugle isn't a one-off set, and that could be good news for LEGO NINJAGO.

76178 Daily Bugle and 76269 Avengers Tower are both compatible with the LEGO Modular Buildings Collection, despite being much taller and arguably out-of-style compared to the rest of the range and 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum. However, the presence of these two similar builds shows that 76178 Daily Bugle wasn't a one-off model or at the very least that the LEGO design team accepted that Avengers Tower was an inevitability.

The LEGO Group has a couple of modular product ranges, the other major collection of which is NINJAGO City. There's a memorable location that has yet to appear in the collection that would undoubtedly need a tall entry that would stand out compared to the rest, but at least there's precedent now.

Borg Industries has cameoed in NINJAGO City recently thanks to a store in 71799 NINJAGO City Markets and it even debuted a physical minifigure or Cyrus Borg (not as OverBorg). However, the high-rise tower has yet to appear in a LEGO set, though it would need to be suitably tall and that's no small feat in the NINJAGO City sets.

A Borg Tower model, similar to that which HungryPlant has conceived, compatible with NINJAGO City could be the 76269 Avengers Tower of that collection. Making it fit in with the rest of the range would be more of a challenge as walkways and the old buildings would need to be integrated into the technological tower instead of just pavement and lamppost.

While Borg Tower presents a potential challenge for NINJAGO City, the reveal of 76269 Avengers Tower with its technological and futuristic design and its compatibility with the modular buildings means that there's at least some precedent for a similar model.

Nothing is confirmed for NINJAGO City at the time of writing following 71799 NINJAGO City Markets. However, it and 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens are currently available for those starting their collection. 76269 Avengers Tower is available from November 24, 2023, for £429.99 / $499.99 / €499.99 too.
