LEGO's August 2025 line-up is a bumper month for video game fans

August 2025 is a great month to be a video game fan, with multiple LEGO sets all launching on that date to compete for players’ attention.

When it comes to massive LEGO launch months, August 2025 is pretty hard to beat. There are numerous models scheduled to be released in mere days’ time, covering a wide selection of fan-favourite themes and properties.

Of note are multiple video game builds, offering players sets and minifigures based on some of the most popular digital IPs out there. With such a bumper crop of models arriving on August 1, 2025, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the most essential LEGO video game releases that are well-worth picking up in the weeks to come.

LEGO Animal Crossing

Despite rumours that the theme may potentially be slowing down next year, fans of the Nintendo video game series still have plenty of great builds to pick up. LEGO Animal Crossing is sticking around in 2025, with three sets having dropped on January 1 and an additional trio of models arriving in August.

The two upcoming priorities to add to your shopping list should be 77056 Blathers's Museum Collection, a long-awaited location, and the most-affordable LEGO Animal Crossing release to date in the shape of 77058 Goldie's Cosy House.

LEGO Exclusives

Of the four LEGO exclusive sets dropping on August 1, 40805 Arcade Machine should be a must-have for all gamers. The 468-piece model recreates a retro arcade cabinet, one that can be opened up to reveal a detailed interior, complete with brick-built consoles and a unique minifigure.

The inside of 40805 Arcade Machine also features multiple nods to LEGO and video game history, such as Junkbot, Galaxy Explorer, LEGO Insectoids and Out Run, all wrapped up in an affordable package.

LEGO Fortnite

Only one LEGO Fortnite set will be launching next month, but it’s a massive fan-favourite creation. 77078 Mecha Team Leader stands over 45cm tall and features poseable hips, arms, feet and head, plus the giant robot character also comes with a huge Sword of Singularity accessory.

In addition, the 2,503-piece LEGO Fortnite build boasts a Mecha Team Leader minifigure that can be placed inside the robot's chest cockpit, as well as digital codes to redeem for Mecha Team Leader and Mecha Team Shadow Outfits in the game itself.

LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog

LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog blasts into August 2025 with a pair of sets that further expand the brick-built video game universe. First up is 77005 Knuckles vs. Dr. Eggman Egg Crusher Mech, with the fiery echidna taking on Robotnik’s latest mechanical creation, one that features an opening cockpit and rotating stud-launcher.

The summer wave of LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog releases is bolstered by 77006 Team Sonic Command Truck, a 747-piece model that’s packed with plenty of play options, alongside Sonic, Tails and Metal Sonic minifigures, plus Burrobot and Caterkiller figures.

LEGO Super Mario

When it comes to the largest line-up of LEGO video game-themed releases arriving next month, there’s only one clear winner. There are a total of eight new LEGO Super Mario sets launching in August 2025, including multiple Mario Kart models.

Those vehicles include 72038 Wario & King Boo, 72043 Interactive LEGO Mario & Standard Kart, 72044 Piranha Plant Power-Up Pursuit, 72045 Shy Guy & P-Wing, while the main Nintendo theme gains 72039 Bowser’s Castle, 72040 Captain Toad’s Camp, 72041 Party at Toad’s House and 72042 Prince Florian & Castle Bowser.

LEGO Friends and LEGO Minecraft

It’s worth noting that a selection of video game-based LEGO sets will also finally be arriving in North America next month. For LEGO Friends fans, there’s 42674 Comic Book and Game Shop, a 1,005-piece model that comes with a second floor that includes an arcade cabinet and multiple gaming stations.

On the LEGO Minecraft front, you’re looking at 21278 The Pillager Outpost and Ravager and 21279 The Enderman Tower landing in the territory, allowing video game fans to expand their brick-built Overworld collections even further.
