Check out a full LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight story mission

Gamers who want to see more of the upcoming LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight can check out a full story mission video right now.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will swoop onto consoles and PCs in 2026, bringing with it the first TT Games title since LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga nearly four years ago.

A launch trailer for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight debuted at Gamescom 2025 last night and there’s also a playable demo for visitors at the show to try out. The good news for those who can’t make it to the annual event in Cologne in person is that GameSpot has uploaded a video of a full story mission from the upcoming game to their YouTube channel for all to see.

The pre-alpha build is looking pretty polished so far, taking players on a ride through a suitably moody Gotham City, from a seedy loading dock at the port to a crime-in-progress at Ace Chemicals. Although the footage shows a one-player experience, swapping between Batman and Commissioner Gordon appears to be the key to success.

Along the way, we get to see the new dynamic combat system in action, with players able to take out enemies with a combination of moves and even environmental objects, such as dropping a shipping crate on top of a group of unsuspecting goons.

Also seen for the first time in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a gameplay mechanic that requires the character to analyse various substances in order to follow clues to the next objective. The puzzle feature should hopefully break up the game's exploration and combat sections, but we'll wait to find out more about that particular ability in future videos.

Although only a small section of Gotham City is shown in the video, it’s clear that players will be able to fully explore an expansive open world, complete with familiar locations and a grimy attention to detail.

An emphasis is also placed on utilising specific gadgets, such as employing Batman’s grapple launcher to reel in objects or pull doors open and Jim Gordon’s foam sprayer to block dangerous pipes and obscure the vision of bad guys.

The LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight footage culminates in a final showdown with Red Hood One, battling the villain across multiple levels before he takes an unfortunate bath in a mix of life-altering chemicals.
