LEGO Bluey designer reveals her favourite upcoming set

One of the designers behind the upcoming LEGO Bluey sets has revealed what went into the theme’s creation and which model is her particular favourite.

The LEGO Group and BBC Studios recently revealed they would be partnering up to release multiple Bluey models based on the hugely-popular animated kids show. The LEGO Bluey theme is due to arrive online and in stores on June 1, 2025, with six builds included in the first wave of sets.

Ahead of that date, one of the LEGO Bluey designers has been chatting with Parade regarding the impending theme, revealing what went into the creation of the models, fan-favourite secrets to spot and which of the sets holds a special place in her heart.

“We watched loads of Bluey,” said Roberta Cardazzo, Senior Designer for LEGO DUPLO. “I was watching it with my daughter before starting the project, but obviously as a design team as well."

"We tried to really understand what were the icons from the show and the main characters – obviously trying to understand their personalities."

Working on the LEGO Bluey theme meant that Roberta was also able to be involved in the development of one specific model based on her personal favourite episode of the animated show.

“The Beach' episode is one that I love the most because I have the book at home, and I read it to my daughter before going to bed,” she revealed. “It's something that hits close to my heart. But also ‘The Sign’ – I love that.” The former episode is being recreated in 11202 Bluey's Beach & Family Car Trip, a 133-piece set that will be priced at £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99.

When it comes to ‘The Sign’, fans of the Bluey show will know that the episode proved to be an instant hit with adult viewers and the LEGO Bluey design team was able to watch an exclusive advance preview courtesy of BBC Studios.

The designer also revealed that there are plenty of details tucked away in the six upcoming LEGO Blue sets, subtle references that true fans of the show will be able to spot.

“Kids at four years old and older and their families are really paying attention to these details,” Roberta said. “It's tricky, but I think the way we managed to put ‘The Long Dog' (a visual Easter egg in every episode of Bluey) in each of these. And you will need to look into the details and find them.”
