Change is afoot in the Marvel-verse, as the LEGO Group has cast its gaze over the current superhero portfolio and decreed that one flagship set will retire earlier than expected.
Last month’s reshuffle of the deck saw all three current LEGO Marvel modular buildings pegged with a December 2025 retirement date – the latest point at which any of the LEGO Marvel sets available right now would still be in production. The safe money was on at least a handful of those pushing out into 2026, including the recently-released 76269 Avengers Tower. But one of them has gone completely the other way.
76218 Sanctum Sanctorum – the second building in the modular superhero line-up, sandwiched between 2023’s 76269 Avengers Tower and 2021’s 76178 Daily Bugle – is now scheduled to retire by the end of 2024. That’s not a hard and fast date, which means it could theoretically sell out weeks or even months before December 31.
If you’ve got the Infinity Saga set on your wishlist, best to bite the bullet as soon as you spot a good deal. It probably won’t sell out until at least October, but you just never know: 76239 Batmobile Tumbler: Scarecrow Showdown disappeared from LEGO.com in July 2022, five months ahead of its exit date. And given the LEGO Group looks to be continuing its annual releases of modular superhero sets, you’re going to need 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum for a complete collection.
The good news is that the 2,708-piece set is the only one to shift around within the LEGO Marvel theme this month, so you’ve still got plenty of time to pick up its larger contemporaries in 76178 Daily Bugle and
