The Executive Producer of Marvel Studios' Loki has been announced to be writing the next Avengers Movie following the end of its second season.
Deadline is reporting that the Executive Producer of Marvel Studios Loki, Michael Waldron, is set to write one of Marvel Studio's biggest movies in their schedule – Avengers: The Kang Dynasty releasing on May 1, 2026. Waldron is also the writer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The report notes that the task of writing the Avengers movie once belonged to Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. However, he is now focusing on other Marvel projects with Waldron taking the narrative reins.
With two and a half years until its release, Waldron likely has a good amount of time to work on the story before production will need to move forward. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is the next Avengers movie on the release calendar at the time of writing and will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
Other Marvel Studios have recently been delayed, drastically shifting schedules to end up with only one movie in 2024. While we wait for more news, we can at least look forward to the full season of What If...? Season 2 being released on December 22 with a new episode every day after for nine days.
